Today was the big day! My little men left their mommy and headed to Indiana to spend the summer with their daddy. We made it to the Austin Airport around 8:30 am. The boys were happy and looking forward to their arrival in Indiana. Today was their first time flying as an unaccompanied minor. I was a little nervous; getting to the gate went smoothly, and they loved walking the airport. Everything was going great until they were just about to board the plane. My seven-year-old, Ayden, had second thoughts about getting on the flight. As soon as they came to retrieve my baby, he broke down crying. Before I knew it, I was balling my eyes out. Seeing that precious face so upset was heartbreaking. The moms on the flight ran right over to us and comforted us, and assured us they would look out for my little love bug on the plane. I love how moms look out for each other. The stewardess came to me about 15 minutes after they boarded the plane and said that he was happy now and not to worry. They took him to the cockpit and took pictures of him with the pilot. It was such a relief knowing he was ok. I know his big brother Ashton would have loved on him and comforted him, but those tears were just too much to handle. After that unexpected emotional breakdown, I was heading back home with my sister to get a few hours of Ubering in to help pay for all of the supplies I need to complete the many projects due by Grand Opening Day.
Many of you do not know that I had COVID a month ago and ten days into quarantine I woke up on Thursday, May 27th at 5 am unable to breathe. Never, ever in my life have I been so scared. My boyfriend, Nate, by the grace of God was at my house quarantining with me that night (we all had COVID). His sister is a nurse and left him an oxygen finger monitor. He slipped it on my finger my oxygen was at 76, which is very low. I wasfinally able to catch my breath, but as soon as he told me to stand up, I couldn't breathe again. My oxygen had dropped to 74. He called his sister she told him to get me to the ER. After several tests they determined that I had DOUBLE COVID Pneumonia. I had no idea the severity of what that meant, but let us just say five days of being in the hospital in the PCU on a high oxygen air mask and fearing for my life. I am beyond grateful and blessed to be able to be blogging with you today. I have only ever been in the hospital to give birth and by nothing other than God's grace and mercy was I able to make it home, although, on short-term disability from my full-time job, and steroids for my lungs, I am recovering well and feeling great. I give God all the glory and just maybe that life-changing event is what truly pushed me to stop dreaming of starting this business and take action. Life is short and tomorrow is not promised. I do return to work on June 21st if the doctor gives me the clear on the 17th.
After I was done Ubering around 7 pm, I ran to Lowes to pick up my 12" wood slats to start making my large 3D scrabble tiles for display. My miter saw at home currently only cuts 5-inch slats straight through and I have not mastered the circular saw yet with cutting straight lines. Flipping the wood slats over would take a substantial amount of time; I am on a tight time crunch. I requested they cut the three slats into 21 11.5"x11.5" squares. They advised me that their saw is for much thinner plywood. I said a quick prayer and begged! This sweet man Samuel took on the task for me!!! I was so appreciative. I offered to buy him a meal or even give him money. I needed him to understand what a blessing he was to me! Cutting those tiles with my miter saw would have taken FOREVER! I purchased more paint, gloves to protect this fresh manicure, and a hand sander to sand my 22 wood tile squares. This is one of my larger projects, possibly the largest. I'm putting together four names in a scrabble tile layout to hang in my home so my fabulous customers can see a sample of how the tiles look on the wall. The tiles can be hung using command strips, but I will be using thin pieces of wood on the back of the tiles to create a single oversized piece.
I have my entire kitchen set up as my workshop. Thank goodness I am not having any guests any time soon because my home has turned into a full-blown wood workshop. Now that I have taken the time out to do my daily blog, I'm going to get to work. I am pulling an all-nighter and have to Uber in the morning. Bye for now!
